Job Title: Plant Operator- Sand Plant Reports To: Aggregate Superintendent FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Region: East Location: Scottsbluff, NE Prepared By/Date: Human Resources February 13, 2012 Approved By/Date: Grant Hinze February 20, 2012
Summary: Operates and maintains sand drying plant, monitors material usage, assists with other equipment maintenance, backup plant operator for asphalt plant. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees. Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division. Recommends maintenance budget to management. Adjusts controls to regulate the flow of materials and maintains the speed of systems. Ensures the plant is operating at the proper temperature. Ensures that the plant is operating in accordance with all applicable regulations

Education/Experience: Two or more years related experience preferred.
Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software and Internet software.
Certificates and Licenses: Ability to be QA/QC State Certified Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License Preferred MSHA Certified or ability to obtain required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: May supervise up to two employees in the Plant Operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
